On Tuesday 31 January 2023, one of the most celebrated student bands from the United States of America will give a grand concert in the Salle Jacques Higelin.
Conductor James Patrick Miller will bring over 90 musicians from Gustavus Adolphus College, Minnesota to perform popular film and classical music by John Williams, J.S. Bach, Verdi and Bellini and many others arranged for windband and soloists. The Gustavus Wind Orchestra, founded in 1878, is the premiere and official touring wind ensemble of the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College, Minnesota and the oldest touring collegiate band in the United States west of the Mississippi River. In its long history the band has toured internationally, performed with Percy Aldridge Grainger and – among various other accolades - was the first American ensemble to receive an invitation to present a concert in East Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
